With more than a billion visitors per month, YouTube could make you a star.
Beauty vlogger Tanya Burr ( Wired 02.13) shares some tips.
Keep your setup simple
If you're vlogging your daily life then " an iPhone camera or a small point-and-shoot camera is perfect," says Burr.
Loosely plan your videos
Burr always thinks out the thread her videos will take, but it's best to keep things "chatty". Plan your videos, don't script them.
Personality trumps content
Have a niche, but "if your personality translates well on YouTube then you'll get people watching regardless of your speciality."
Don't expect to make money
"I didn't set out to achieve anything, I've just made goals as my channel grew. Do it because you love it, not to make a career out of it."
Ignore the trolls
"It's such a small percentage of people who say mean things -- you have to focus on the positive comments," advises Burr.
