It's Time to Put This Liveblog to Bed

Don't Wake Daddy

We've had a great run these last couple of days. Our giant list of the best Prime Day deals reached an impressive grand total of 329 deals, all on products our team of expert reviewers have thoroughly tested.

We found sales on everyone's favorite AirPods, the best Kindle for most people, and Google's latest foldable phone that's already on a ludicrously huge discount. Did we catch the sales on electric corkscrews, air purifiers, and baby strollers? You bet we did.

It takes a lot of people working for many weeks to put all of this together, and our whole team appreciates each and every one of you that's been here with us through it all. But it's midnight on the East coast, so it's time we put this baby to bed. And by “baby”, I mean the liveblog. And me.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rest my head on a comfy pillow, get under a cozy blanket, and sleep for a million years.

I Implore You to Add Mysterium to Your Board Game Collection

There are few board games that hold such a special place in my heart like Mysterium. Where most games center around some kind of competition, logic, and rules, this one is more about cooperation and creative communication. In this Clue-like game, one player is a ghost that's been murdered by one of the game's many colorful characters. The other players have gathered to conduct a seance to try to ask the ghost who killed them, where, and with what weapon.

The hitch is, the ghostly player can only communicate using surreal, almost dream-like vision cards. The ghost can't speak, and can only confirm whether a player has guessed the right person, place, or weapon with a knock. It's a deeply interesting twist on the genre that challenges players to learn how each other see and interpret art, what they focus on, and how they think. It's one of the better ways I've found to get to know people on a deeper level. What more could you ask for in a game?

Thanks to This Aromatherapy Spray, I’m Going to Pass the Heck Out Right After This Post

Thisworks Choose Sleep Travel Kit

This handy little travel set will be featured in an upcoming gift guide, but it always has a place right next to me on my nightstand and it has since I worked third shift years ago. I know it sounds cheesy, but the brand didn’t lie. This works. You’ll get a little pillow spray and a little roller of essential oils. The primary scents are lavender, eucalyptus, and frankincense. The result is a sleep-inducing cocktail that makes my eyes droop before I even screw the lid back on. It’s important to note that eucalyptus oil is not pet safe, so don’t use this around your fur babies. But if you’re looking to create a better sleep routine, I highly recommend this stocking-stuffer-sized set.

Switch Online Subscribers Can Pre-Order….Alarmo. The Nintendo Alarm Clock

“Who wants something like this?”
“…I kinda do.”

This is a real conversation that just happened in my living room when I put on the teaser video for Alarmo. The Nintendo alarm clock. This clock wakes you up with music from one of five Nintendo games and then—I am being dead serious—makes game noises at you in response to your movement. Stretch, toss, turn, or sit up, and the alarm clock will barrage you with coin pickup sound effects from Super Mario Odyssey, or splat sounds from Splatoon 3. You'll need to be a current subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online to preorder one for now.

It costs $100.

Everything About These Fake Chopsticks For “Gamers” Is Upsetting Me

Snacktiv Pro Finger Chopsticks for Gamers

As an old-school Lifehacker alum, I've been a fan of using chopsticks to eat messy foods like Doritos for well over a decade. But this? This is hurting me. The Snacktiv Pro Finger Chopsticks for Gamers seem to be trying to “solve” the problem of using chopsticks while gaming by letting you hold this gadget in between your fingers while you hold a controller. Okay, fine. I mean I don't think chopsticks are that difficult to use, but I know some people do. I'm listening, Snacktiv. Continue.

But wait, hang on. The sticks just stick out of your hand like Wolverine's claws the whole time you're playing? I can't imagine finding that comfortable. And “Dark Mode”? It's black! It's just black. Anyway, this isn't really on “sale”, since it's normally $14, but I might just be unnecessarily cranky about one of my favorite life hacks. If it's silly, but it works for you, then it isn't silly. No matter how much it seems like it is to me.

This Sleep Mask Helped Me Sleep 10 Hours in A Tent

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to fall asleep in a tent while there’s 7 different kinds of bass music playing, hundreds of chatty neighbors around you, and there’s a rock wedged under your sleeping pad. But it’s hard. I tested this Manta Sound sleep mask on a recent festival trip and managed to catch ten whopping hours of sleep in the least sleep-conducive environment. It’ll be featured in an upcoming gift guide but it’s on sale right now for Prime Day.

The specially designed eye cups and double-layer mask means a total blackout, even in the sunniest environments. And this sleep mask has tiny, razor-thin headphones built in. Link it to your phone and play your favorite white noise for an even better sleep experience. The headphones are adjustable, and there are three intuitive buttons on the front of the mask for volume controls and power. The battery has yet to die on me, and when the mask gets gross, I’ll separate the internal layer and pop it in the washing machine. There’s even a handy carrying case to keep your mask separated from the rest of the stuff you cram in your duffel bag before a trip. Did I mention it comes in pink?

This Is the Monitor I'm Currently Liveblogging From (and I Love It)

34-inch Ultragear OLED Curved Gaming Monitor

My review of this monitor isn't out yet, but I can spoil it for you: I'm giving this thing an 8/10, easy. It has a rather intense 800R curve, which means it's really curved. The sides of the monitor feel like they're leaning in to so the edges don't feel like they're further away from your eyes than the center. This is particularly helpful if you happen to sit relatively close to your monitor (like I do). There's plenty of space to keep multiple windows open next to each other without feeling like everything is scrunched up. Which particularly helpful if, for example, you need to have several windows open while liveblogging deals all through the night. Or, you know, playing video games, which it's designed for. I've also played a fair amount of Overwatch 2 on this thing and the 240Hz refresh rate leads to ultrasmooth gameplay.

Don't Forget the Batteries!

AA Batteries

We recommend countless gadgets here at WIRED, and while many of them come with their own rechargeable batteries, some do not. Like the remote control for your TV or, for some reason, Xbox controllers still? Either way, if you're buying something you're gonna need batteries for, now's a good time to grab a discounted bulk pack.

We Like the Beats Studio Pro a Lot More When They're Half-Off

When you put the Beats Studio Pro (7/10, WIRED Review) up against comparable headsets like Sony's legendary WH-1000XM5, it's tough to argue they hold their own. While they have excellent noise-cancellation, head-tracking for spatial audio, and one-touch pairing with Apple devices, they lack a few key features compared to their competitors. The battery life is only alright, and there's no auto-pause or adjustable EQ.

Those would be valid complaints for a $350 headset, but right now, this is not a $350 headset. Not even close. In fact, at $170, it's competing with headsets we like that lack a lot more than just those minor nitpicks. Heck, I'm currently using a pair of $200 headphones that don't have ANC at all. You could do a lot worse than to grab one of these while they're at this price.

Julian's Favorite Driving Loafers Are On Sale

It only occurred to me to look for these because I was walking around my house, testing slippers for a forthcoming update to our Best Slippers guide. You wouldn't think that Rothys, the stylish shoes made from recycled water bottles, would be on Amazon, and yet here they are and a lot of men's and women's versions are on sale. Chokkattu noted that these are durable, washable, and easy to slip on to walk his dog. I have two dogs! Maybe it's time to upgrade?

Sorry, Mario, Dry Bowser's Flesh Is In Another LEGO Castle

Super Mario Dry Bowser Castle Expansion Set

The concept of a Dry Bowser makes way more sense, and is a lot less deeply unsettling when you're dealing with LEGO sets. Obviously your LEGO sets should be dry, Bowser. Anyway, this rather elaborate Dry Bowser castle set looks absolutely rad. It's got a crane holding a purple Toad in a giant cage, a massive bony Bowser, and…I wanna say an orange Yoshi serving a plate of pancakes? No, sorry, that is checks notes Magmaargh. Obviously.

The Controversial Bose Open Earbuds Are On Sale

Bose makes so many wonderful headphones that when the company comes out with something that doesn't work perfectly, it's really obvious. Reviewer Ryan Waniata gave the Bose Open Ultra a score of 6/10, but just out of curiosity, I've been trying them for the past several weeks and … I actually really like them? (Sorry, Ryan!) The fit is more secure than I thought it would be, and the company seems to have fixed the software quirks. I just like the design, which lets me listen to podcasts while washing dishes and still keep tabs on my kids dropping things and screaming in the house.

Buffy’s Brand-New Percale Sheets Are Just Dropped (And Are On Sale!)

Buffy Supima Cotton Percale Sheets

Look, if you asked me about percale six months ago, I would tell you they’re too crinkly and I casually despise them. But after months of testing percale sheets to stay cool this summer, I’m a convert. I love a good percale set with fantastic airflow and a crisp feel, but I prefer a set that’s also slightly soft so I don’t get that crinkly sensation of overwashed hotel sheets. And one of the best sets I’ve ever tried is Buffy’s brand-new Suprima Cotton Percale Sheets, which just became available for the first time ever.

I’ve been sleeping on my set for a while now, but these amazingly soft-yet-super-breathable sheets just dropped today on Buffy’s website and Amazon. Even better? Buffy’s 20% off sale includes them (be sure to Clip the Coupon on Amazon!). If you don’t think you’ll like percale, trust me: buy these. I can’t stop sleeping on them, which is bad because my job is to literally test different sheets.

We Found a Super Cheap Pair of Workout Headphones

We have another JLab option in our Absolute Best Deals post, and to be honest JLab headphones are usually pretty cheap to begin with. However, this is a pretty extraordinary price on a pair of very good workout headphones. They do what you need them to do, they come in fun colors, and they don't break!

Missed the Breville Smart Oven!

I'm doing a last-minute sweep on all the best deals, and it seems that we missed the Breville smart oven that several of us—including me and I believe commerce director Martin Cizmar—personally own! We dropped the ball a bit on the air fryer beat. It looks like a countertop microwave oven but it has a wide variety of functions and temperature ranges. I use it every day, for everything from toasting my kid's morning bagel to air frying dino nuggets and broccoli at night.

Another LG TV On Another Great Sale

It seems like you can't turn around this Prime Day without bumping into another LG TV on sale. This one, the 65-inch LG C3 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is a slightly older model of one of our Best TVs, and it's down to a pretty affordable price. The C3 has incredible brightness and contrast, ultrabright HDR, and a reflection-resistant screen. It's not quite as bright as the C4—which is also on sale—but for most people's living rooms, it should still be fine. And if that's not a concern for you, why not save a couple hundred bucks?

Score Google’s Classic Smart Thermostat While You Still Can

Nest Smart Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen)

When I say while you still can, I don’t just mean the sale. Google’s third-gen Smart Learning Thermostat is disappearing off shelves as it’s replaced by the new fourth-gen model (9/10, WIRED Recommends) that Google announced just a couple months ago. If you love the thick bezel and petite screen that has become the Google Nest classic, this is the time to strike. It works great to control your home’s temperature, though you will need both the Nest app to set it up and the Google Home app to use it with the rest of your Google Home ecosystem that I assume you have. The best sale is over at Walmart—each color has a slightly different price, with the stainless steel being the cheapest—but you can find it discounted on Amazon, too.

This Little Brother to One of My Favorite Gaming Laptops Is a Lot Cheaper

When I tested the 18-inch ROG Strix Scar 18 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) I loved it. The ROG Strix G16 is a smaller, less powerful version of this laptop and we haven't tested this model specifically, but based on Asus' build quality on its other laptops, I'd still check this one out. It has a more moderate 1080p panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, and an Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card. It's less beastly than the one I've tried, but it's also a lot cheaper. On this sale, it's just barely above a grand, which is a steal for most gaming laptops.

Aw Man, Is the New Pixel 9 Pro Fold On Sale Already?

Don't get me wrong, this is a great deal on the pretty solid (if flexible) Pixel 9 Pro Fold (6/10, WIRED Review). It's just that I already bought the Pixel 9 Pro not-foldable-edition! I love the idea of a foldable phone, especially one that's so similar to a phone I already like, but the $1,800 price tag put me off of it. Well, now it's down to a measly $1,139. That's an absolutely wild discount for a device that came out barely a month ago. It's still pretty pricey, as phones go, but not so absurd that it's immediately disqualifying. Genuinely, if I knew this phone was going to be this cheap so soon, I might've grabbed it instead of the regular Pixel 9 Pro that I got (and, so far, quite love).

A Powerful Vacuum Cleaner To Tackle Carpet Stains

Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro

This is our favorite vacuum cleaner in our guide to Best Carpet Cleaners. In testing, it did an excellent job removing tons of cat hair and eliminating lingering odors. It’s also easy to use. It comes with two removable tanks—all you have to do is fill the top tank to the marked lines with warm water and detergent, pull a trigger on the handle to wet wash, and then run over the spot slowly as the bottom tank fills with water. There’s also a special spray jet that can target stains. You’ll also have the choice between three modes—Max, Deep, and Express—along with multiple attachments including one for upholstery and another for stairs.

We only have a few gripes with it. For starters, it’s very loud. It’s also not the best for tackling older stains. And, while it’s maneuverable for a carpet cleaner, it’s heavy to lift and won’t slide under low furniture. Aside from that, it’s still a great option if you’re looking for a powerful vacuum to stay on top of stains before they seep in.
