Pretty Much All of Your Favorite Shows Just Got Emmy Nominations

Both new series and perennial favorites got Emmy nods this year. And, surprisingly, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences got it right this year.

The nominations for the 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, and despite a few inexplicable oversights—Samantha Bee, Outlander, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend deserved waaaaay more nods—the rest of the contenders are all ... surprisingly great?

The Americans finally got an Outstanding Drama Series nomination (as did stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell)! Pretty much the entire cast of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (and their hairdos) are in the running! And Master of None and Mr. Robot (and their respective stars, Aziz Ansari and Rami Malek) are on the ballots, too! Game of Thrones got 23 nominations, including five in the Best Horse Decapitation category!

As usual, cable and streaming outlets dominated the nominations, with networks like HBO (Game of Thrones, Veep, Silicon Valley), FX (Fargo, The Americans, The People v. O.J. Simpson), AMC (Breaking Bad, The Night Manager), and USA (Mr. Robot) vying with digital providers such as Amazon (Transparent) and Netflix (Kimmy Schmidt, Master of None, Bloodline, House of Cards). Meanwhile, streaming service Crackle got a nom for Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee series, and Louis C.K.'s self-produced, self-released Horace and Pete was honored, as well. And as for the big networks? They were well-represented in the major categories by ABC, which earned noms for American Crime, black-ish, and How to Get Away With Murder.

Who will win? Who will lose? And will O.J. Simpson be allowed to watch? We'll find out when the Emmys air on ABC on Sept. 18. In the meantime, here are the nominees in all the major categories.
