We already knew that the name of the short that would be appearing in front of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur when the movie comes out on November 25. But now Disney/Pixar has finally released the first official preview clip from Sanjay’s Super Team, the directorial debut of animator Sanjay Patel. It’s from the very beginning of the short, and highlights the contrast between two forms of rital: young Sanjay’s worship of a Saturday morning cartoon superhero team, and his father’s Hindu prayers.
The clip gives a good sense of the short's visual style, but having seen Sanjay's Super Team in its entirety when Pixar screened it for press a few weeks ago, we can tell you it doesn’t even scratch the surface of the meticulous detail or wild imagination packed into the film’s seven minutes. It’s the first Pixar short to be helmed by an Indian-American director, and it’s without a doubt the most personal and autobiographical project put into theaters by the studio. Keep an eye on this one.
