Flappy Bird Is Dead. Get Your Fix With These 8 Knockoffs

Oh, Flappy Bird. You soared. You dove. You were unflinchingly difficult and you flapped as hard as you flapping could. But Flappy Bird is gone now. Unable to cope with the stress and pressure of the game's overnight popularity, its creator, Dong Nguyen, pulled it from the iOS App Store.

Flappy Bird is dead. Long live Flappy Bird.

A deluge of copycats, ripoffs, parodies and tributes have sprung up in Flappy Bird's wake. Some from alternative Android app markets were found to be harboring malware. Others parodied the situation, swapping in memes or even Sesame Street characters in place of the original flying fish-bird-thing.

Game developer Ivano Palmentieri1 launched a game jam in support of Nguyen. The "Flappy Jam," as it's called, aims to show that indie game developers are friendly and supportive of their peers.

Between the game jam and other Flappy-minded developers, some fascinating, subversive, and downright hilarious Flappy Bird-inspired games have come into existence. Here are some of our favorites – games that you can play now, in your browser.
