UK mobile operator 3 and Skype have finally gone official with their new dedicated handset, the Skypephone. It's a regular cellphone but with a big ol' Skype button in the middle. Hit the button and you'll see a list of online Skype contacts. From there, you can call or send instant messages, free. The calls are routed over 3's 3G network, so there's no WiFi hotspot hunting required.
In fact, the only thing which stops this being the awesomest is that you can't use Skypeout, Skype's cheap-o service to call any number in the world via VoIP. The handset is otherwise normal, if a little toy-like, and has a 2 MP camera, TV streaming and an MP3 player. It'll cost £50 ($103) prepay or free with a contract, and will be available on November 2nd in the UK.
